Sims 4 Slow Download For Mac
I just bought the MacBook Air (2018 model) for college for the next 5 years. But I wanted to download The Sims 4 for my downtime. Should I not do this since it's not a gaming laptop? Will it slow down my computer and make it not worth it?

But: Sims 4 runs SO MUCH better than Sims 3 ever did on my laptop (that's a cider issue) and when its not running my game runs beautifully. I imagine if you don't have a lot of space left on your harddrive it may make a difference, but I don't see why it would slow down your laptop when you're not using it.

Only if you run The Sims 4 will the screen response seem slower than usually running MacOS programs that are not games. Not running The Sims 4 lets your non-gaming laptop run normally.
Unless it's running, it will not slow your machine down. It will, of course, take up storage space on the drive, if that's important to you. And the program may not run at its best on that machine.
Aha! Starrysky offers the secret! Don't play the game.

- Hey guys, I brought my first MacBook today. (MacBook Pro 13inch retina) apparently good for gaming, graphics etc said by the sales person) I am in the process of product redeeming my sims 4 on my Mac book, it's been over a hour and I'm only on 4%!!!!! Why is this taking soo long?
The 13' has integrated graphics as opposed to dedicated which is recommended for gaming. Whilst it should be ok for now, the more Expansion, Stuff and Game Packs you add to the game the slower and laggier it may become. If that happens you should lower your graphics settings in game. Lower graphics = smoother performance.
In Origin go to Preferences, click on the Advanced tab, scroll down and check the box next to Enable Safe Mode Downloading. If you've installed any antivirus turn it off.0 - I haven't downloaded or installed anything else. I'm just in the process of installing the base game. Which is taking so long!!! Everything about Origin seems to be really slow, it's even lagging when I try to click in out of it. I even tried cancelling the installation and restarting (which is taking even longer).
- So I tick that box? Can I untick it after its installed? Will it affect the game in anyway? @BluebellFlora
- It just ensures more stable downloads. You can untick it if you like, it doesn't affect gameplay in any way.0
